Parent Responsibilities
Parental Involvement
Petra is a cooperative effort on the part of parents, their children, and teachers. Parents must diligently monitor all their children’s Petra work to ensure that homework and projects are well-done, complete, and turned in when due.
Parental Presence
A parent from each family must be present in the building (not out in a car) whenever the child(ren) is in the building.
Parent Attire
Parents are encouraged to dress in business casual, should adhere to the same or higher standard than the students, and set an example for the student body
Attending Classes/Parent Classroom Etiquette
Parents are allowed to monitor their child’s classes. However, parents are not to ask questions during class or participate in class discussions unless specifically invited to do so by the teacher. Parents should never converse with other parents in the back of a classroom or use cell phones during a class.
Cleaning
Each family unit (parent and children) is responsible for cleaning up messes as they see them. The board will assign the family with weekly cleaning tasks to help maintain the facility.
Parents with Non-Petra Students
There will be designated area(s) for parents to care for non-Petra children during school hours.
Leaving the Building
Should an emergency or illness arise
• The parent must have another adult agree to be responsible for their child(ren) if they must leave for part of the day.
• The parent must sign out with a Board member at the Board table before leaving his/her child(ren) in the care of another adult. Parents are asked not to abuse this policy.
